ORIGIN STORY

THIS IS HOW WE STARTED

Born into the Sonoran Desert and raised in the foothills of Cave Creek, Arizona, Benjamin Kastelic grew up exploring sandy washes, rugged mountains and the raw landscape that would shape his creative eye. From the time he was old enough to hold a camera, he was drawn to capturing what he saw around him. Inspired by the Nature, people, movement and the stories hidden inside everyday life. By his senior year at Cactus Shadows High School, his artistic ability had already earned him recognition as Best Male Artist.

What followed was anything but a conventional career. Benjamin became an artist and photographer, outdoor adventure leader, educator, designer, creative consultant and filmmaker. His path took him to co-founding an eco-apparel brand, working in photography and the arts, and eventually editing travel films that explore destinations, cultures and landscapes around the world. Since 2020, he has worked as a film and video editor with Living in Arizona Now & Island Hopper TV international travel platforms built around adventure, culture and discovering the world beyond the usual tourist path.

Today, Benjamin brings that lifetime of curiosity and storytelling to Arizona Media Team. He is still doing what comes naturally to him:  exploring, observing and putting a camera between himself and something worth remembering. The equipment has changed, the destinations have expanded, but the mission has remained remarkably consistent: go somewhere interesting, find the story, and bring it to life through the lens.
